When we built Anemolia Villas, we wanted to create a place that felt like it belonged to the landscape of Karpathos. This island is not like the others you see on postcards. It is a rugged, honest place that doesn't try to be anything other than what it is.

We live by the rhythm of the sea and the mountains here. One day you might find yourself sitting in a small taverna in a mountain village where the only sound is the wind, and the next you are swimming in water so clear you can see every pebble on the bottom. There is a quiet strength to this island that stays with you long after you leave.

Life in Karpathos is still tied to the land and the seasons. We don't have the big crowds or the fast pace of the mainland. Instead, we have space to breathe. We want our guests to feel that same sense of calm when they wake up at the villas. Whether you spend your day exploring the old paths or just watching the light change over the Aegean, we hope you find the same peace here that we do.

Facts About Karpathos

Location: We are the second largest island in the Dodecanese, located in the sea between Rhodes and Crete. Karpathos is home to Kali Limni. At 1,215 meters, it is the highest point in all the Dodecanese islands.

The Landscape: The island is divided by a high mountain range. The north is wild and traditional, while the south has a softer landscape with many sandy bays.

The Climate: Because of our position in the open sea, we have a steady summer breeze called the Meltemi. It keeps the island cool and makes the south coast one of the best places in the world for windsurfing.

Traditions: In villages like Olympos, people still live much like they did a century ago. You will see women in traditional dress and hear music played on handmade instruments.
